Event Details

This fall Oikocredit USA will be hosting a series

of microfinance workshops.

Join Oikocredit USA at the Christ Congregational Church on Saturday, October 30th from 9 am to noon, for an educational workshop.  This is a great opportunity to learn about how Oikocredit and its volunteers, through the use of microfinance, are helping communities throughout the world because we know that the world's poor don't lack ability -- they lack opportunity!  Coffee and refreshments will be offered before the event followed by presentations on the Redemptive power of Microfinance by our Executive Director Terry Provance, Grameen Foundation's Program Officer Sharlene Brown, and EarthSpark International's President Allison Archambault .  We look forward to seeing you!

     Sharlene Brown

Sharlene is responsible for creating and managing the deployment strategy for the Progress Out of Poverty IndexTM (PPI) in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) regions.  She also manages key relationships with international NGOs and social investors that are incorporating PPI data into their investment decision making process.

Prior to join Grameen Foundation, Sharlene spent most of her career in the socially responsible investment (SRI) marketplace initially working as a business development manager for Domini Social Investments, here she managed institutional relationships and sales in addition to serving on the Domini's Social Policy Review Committee.  She then worked as a research associate for the Social Investment Forum producing the 2007 Trends Report on Social Investing in the United States.

Oikocredit USA

Oikocredit is one of the world’s largest sources of private funding to the microfinance sector. We provide credit to trade cooperatives, fair trade organizations and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) in the developing world. We also lend working capital to microfinance institutions (MFIs) and co-ops in over 70 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. In turn, they dispense life-changing loans to the poor and disadvantaged, with a special emphasis on rural areas and women.

Oikocredit is a pioneer in microfinance - for 35 years we have built a social vision that connects lenders to borrowers to create lasting change.
